Embarkation day has a fixed deadline and a lot of luggage. A private car from the airport or your hotel drops you at the terminal curb, where porters take your checked bags.
- Room for a week of luggage, sized when you book
- Return pickups on debarkation morning

Get the timing right first
Your cruise line gives you an arrival window when you check in online. Work backward from that window, not from the ship’s departure time. The crowds peak from mid to late morning, roughly 10:30 until 12:30.
Saturdays are the port’s heaviest days, followed by Sundays, often with four or five ships in at once. On those mornings the Beachline (SR 528) and A1A carry both debarking passengers heading out and new passengers heading in.
If you are flying in on the day of the cruise, leave a real margin. A flight that lands two hours late is an inconvenience on a resort trip and a missed ship on a cruise. Many cruisers fly in the day before and spend the night near the port or in Orlando.
There is more detail in our cruise-day timing guide.

How drop-off works at the terminal
Tell us your terminal
Port Canaveral has several cruise terminals and lines move between them. Your cruise documents name yours; put it in the booking.
Curbside at the terminal front
The port directs vehicles to the front of the terminal for passenger and baggage drop-off, in marked lanes only.
Hand checked bags to the porters
Porters take checked luggage at the curb. Keep passports, travel documents and medication in your carry-on.
Walk in to check in
Your driver leaves the drop-off lane as soon as you are unloaded, so the lane keeps moving for everyone else.

The port in numbers
Port Canaveral describes itself as the world’s busiest cruise port. Seven major cruise lines sail from it, and the port lists seven cruise terminals. Terminal assignments change by ship and by season, so the terminal printed on your own documents is the one that counts.

Coming back: debarkation day
Ships usually return early in the morning, and each line runs its own debarkation schedule, with groups called off in stages. Tell us your ship and what comes next, whether that is a flight home, a hotel night or another week in Orlando, and we agree the pickup time with you when you book.
If you have a flight the same day, allow for the walk off the ship, customs and collecting your bags before the drive back to MCO, which is about 45 to 60 minutes in normal traffic.

Questions travellers ask
What is the drive time from MCO to the cruise port?
About 44 to 46 miles, almost all on SR 528 (the Beachline), and roughly 45 to 60 minutes in normal traffic. Weekend mornings and rush hour take longer.
Can you take us from a resort-area hotel straight to the ship?
Yes. From the Lake Buena Vista area it is about 60 to 65 miles, a little over an hour in normal traffic, so plan your pickup around your arrival window.
Will a week of luggage fit?
Tell us the number of suitcases and carry-ons when you book and we match the vehicle to them. For big groups or heavy packers, a passenger van or Sprinter keeps everyone and every bag together.
Are the Beachline tolls extra?
No. SR 528 tolls and any airport fees are included in the price.
Can you stop at a store on the way to the port?
Ask when you book. Stops depend on the timing of your boarding window, so we agree them with your booking rather than promise them here.
