Winter Park, Orange County

Winter Park is its own city, just north of Orlando, built as a winter resort in the 1880s. It is almost exactly as far from Orlando Sanford as from Orlando International, which is worth knowing when you book a flight.

## About Winter Park

Wealthy northerners planned Winter Park in the late 1800s as a place to spend the cold months, and the Seminole Hotel, opened in 1886, gave it a name. Canals link its lakes, and downtown wraps around Central Park and the station on Park Avenue.

Rollins College, founded in 1885 as Florida’s first four-year college, is by Lake Virginia, and the Morse Museum on North Park Avenue holds the chapel Louis Comfort Tiffany built for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition.

- Arriving by Amtrak or SunRail? The station is in Central Park downtown, so your pickup starts at the edge of the park.

- Rollins visitors: give the building or residence hall, not just the college, so the driver can get close.
